It used to be that you would take care of online check-in at the same time that you reserved activities. Since cruising has resumed from the Covid shutdown, the actually check-in has been moved to about a month prior to sailing. 3. Pay up!

This gets a little bit tricky. If you get to reserve activities on May 29th, that means that when the clock hits midnight, Eastern Standard Time, you can check in. 5. Know what you want.

6. Be ready to leap into action.

Before it rolls around to midnight Eastern Standard Time, you should log into the website, and you should also have linked the reservations of anyone traveling with you in another stateroom. Then go to the My Plans tab next to your reservations. You’ll see each day of your cruise, with some activities listed such as deck parties and the port ashore and aboard times. For each day there is a little plus sign that says Add Activities. When you click that, you get a drop-down menu. At midnight (East Coast Time) you can start selecting these and making reservations. You know–if the system isn’t glitching.

If you have multiple staterooms linked together, you should be able to make reservations for everyone together as long as everyone is eligible for activity registration. For example, traveling with my parents, we were all checked-in and had the same window for activities. I was able to make Palo reservations for them and for us together. If you can see their reservation number in your account, then you can make activity reservations for them. However, when we traveled with friends who were first-time cruisers, I couldn’t make reservations for them as soon as I became eligible. I had to wait for their eligibility window to come around.

Also, if you have more than 4 staterooms linked together, the system can’t handle that. It will default back to letting you make reservations for only one stateroom at a time. 7. Don’t give up.

People make and cancel reservations all the time. If you can’t get the reservation that you want, continue to check back over the the next few days and weeks. This also means that if you didn’t get around to your online check-in until late, you still have a shot at reserving some fun activities.

8. Be Prepared for online check-in.
