4. Clothes For An Event Your Cruise Doesn’t Have

Shorter cruises don’t usually have a Formal Night.  Cruises to Alaska don’t have a Pirate Night.  I don’t think the cruise documents always make this very clear, but when I’ve called the Cruise Line a few weeks before the sailing, they’ve always been able to tell me which nights to expect.  Last time, they even told me which night we were scheduled to have the Formal, Semi-Formal, Pirate, and Halloween On The High Seas nights.

5. Lots Of Extra Clothes

They have laundry facilities on all the ships, so you can always throw in a load if you go through clothes faster than planned.  Last time I sailed, it was $2 to wash and $2 to dry.  If you don’t feel like doing it yourself, there’s even an option to have your laundry picked up and done for you at an extra fee.  Particularly when traveling with kids, knowing about the laundry situation can really help you lighten the load when packing for your Disney Cruise.

6. Laundry Supplies

Soap, fabric softener, and dryer sheets are available for about $1 each in the laundry rooms. Unless you really want your usual brand, you can leave the supplies at home.

7. An Iron

8. Power Strips And Extension Cords

It’s not that you won’t need these, but they won’t let you have them.  Again, it’s about fire safety.  Apparently the ships have some power strips that you can request from guest services, but not many.  A USB splitter is permitted, and power converters are permitted.

9. Alcohol In Excess Of The Limit

Adults over 21 are permitted to bring on board 2 unopened bottles of wine or champagne or 6 beers.  Each adult may bring this amount when you board initially and at each port.  If that’s not enough to hold you, don’t worry, they have more on board.  Unlike poor Jack Sparrow, you will never find that the rum is gone.

10. Anything On The Prohibited Items List

The Disney Cruise Line website has a list of items that you aren’t allowed to bring, including obvious items like firearms and some less obvious ones like pool noodles.
