8oz Burger & Co in Seattle

8oz Burger and Co, SeattleWe had heard about 8oz Burger & Co and checked out the menu online, so we headed to Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood one Friday afternoon to check it out.  There was no wait while we were there, but reservations are available for busier times.  The restaurant had a full bar along one side and a casual dining area decorated in a rustic style.

The Burgers

As the name suggests, the restaurant is mainly focused on burgers,  and there is a huge variety of burgers available such as the Pike which comes with frisee, tomatoes, fire roasted Anaheim peppers, habañero jam, cotija 8oz Burger and Co, Seattlecheese, and avocado cilantro crema.  Justin can attest to the fact that it really is spicy.  They can serve the habañero jam on the side if you’re worried about it being too spicy.

My son tried the 8oz which is their signature burger with arugula, balsamic onions, bacon, Beechers cheddar cheese, and truffle aioli.  My daughter had the lunch special which is the Classic, served with fries.  The Classic which is a basic cheeseburger with tomato, onion, pickle, and special sauce.  We ordered all the burgers cooked medium which was pink in the middle.  Justin decided that next time he’d be happy to have his rare.  All the burgers were juicy and on the messy side.

Veggie Burger and Truffled Garlic Fries.

To be different, I tried the house-made veggie burger which was mostly made of grains and lentils. It wasn’t the sort of patty that imitates meat, but it was very tasty and crispy on the outside.  Toward the middle, it got kind of gummy and messy, but I enjoyed it overall.

The Kids’ Menu

Popcorn chicken and french fries from the children’s menu.

Our other daughter ordered the popcorn chicken with fries.  She is our connoisseur of all types of breaded, deep-fried chicken, and she enjoyed the popcorn chicken.  She said that it would have been a little dry without ketchup, but luckily, she likes ketchup.  They did look like they had been cooked slightly longer than the ideal time, but they were the right amount of crunchy and had a good flavor.  It was served with plenty of fries.

The Fries

From the adult menu, all burgers come a la carte with the exception of the lunch special.   We knew we wanted to try the fries, so we also ordered the truffled garlic fries.  All the fries were very good.  They were crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, and salted just the right amount.   The truffled garlic fries were a little fancier, and while I liked them, I didn’t really like them more than the regular fries.

Shakes and More
Thai Ice Tea Shake, *oz Burger & Co Seattle
Thai Iced Tea Shake made with Full Tilt Ice Cream.

All the shakes are made with Full Tilt Ice Cream, and Aidan tried the Thai Iced Tea milkshake which he though was awesome.  In addition to traditional flavors, they have specialties such as a Maple Bacon Snickerdoodle shake and a Green Tea Nutella shake.

We only so much room to try out the food, but there were other types of sandwiches available as well as appetizers like sweet potato tots, short rib poutine, and Beechers Mac& Cheese, to name a few.

Kid Factor

Kids Menu.

Ours were the only kids in the restaurant at the time we were there, but they had a good kids menu and brought crayons to the table.  Kids’ drinks were served the same as the adult drinks in a large, open glass, so if you have a small child, you might want to bring a cup with a lid.  I only went into one of the two “anyone” restrooms, but it did not have a changing table.
