1. Scheduled Character Appearances

Some itineraries provide an opportunity for pictures with the characters in special outfits.

The Navigator App has a list of the times and places for scheduled character appearances.  For popular or rare characters, you will want to arrive early and figure out where the line is forming. Sometimes there are professional photographers at these meets, but there will also be a crew member who can take pictures with your own camera or phone.

2. Random Character Appearances

Sometimes you just come across characters strolling through the hallways or the atrium.  They may be in too much of a hurry to do more than wave, or they may stop and interact with you.  There will probably not be professional photographers with these characters, so have your camera ready, or just enjoy the moment.

3. Ticketed Free Events

This is an important one because it lets you meet some popular characters with relatively short waits.  Some character meets are so popular that you have to sign up for them ahead of time, but they don’t cost extra.  On our cruises on The Wonder, this included the big Princess Gathering in the Atrium as well as the Frozen meet with Anna, Elsa, and Olaf.  There was also a ticketed character breakfast.  These events nearly always have professional photographers as well as another crew member who is happy to take pictures with your own camera or phone.

To get tickets to these events, look for the online sign up when your activity registration window opens online. If you sign up ahead of time, the tickets for the event will be waiting for you in your stateroom when you come aboard.  If you miss out on the preregistration, check with Guest Services as soon as you are on board.

4. In Your Dining Rotation

Some meals may have a special character interaction.  Tiana hosts the entertainment in her restaurant on The Wonder and may come around to every table.  Louis the Alligator shows up too, but I didn’t see him stop for photos. The characters from Tangled perform at Rapunzel’s Royal Table on the Magic. In addition, Mickey shows up at Animator’s Palate which can be found on all the ships.

5. Shell Out The Dough

All four ships offer the Royal Court Royal Tea Party for children age 3 – 12 and their parents.  This is a special tea party with princesses.  It’s a whopping $220 for children and $69 for adults.  That better be some freakin’ awesome tea.

6. In the Kids’ Clubs

The characters show up pretty often in the Oceaneer Lab or the Oceaneer Club to lead or take part in an activity.  As an adult, these will probably happen outside of your view, but when you go to pick up your kid, you may find a snapshot of your child with the character.

And One More, Maybe

In addition to all the chances to interact and take pictures with the characters, you can see favorite characters in the Sail Away Parties, Pirate Night, dance parties, and the evening entertainment.  Sometimes there are opportunities for interactions and pictures afterward.
