I’ve been going to Disneyland since I was 9 years old, and I love everything about it. Well, almost everything. While I love the sunny California weather, the heat can get to be too much. One summer we were even there during an all-time, record-breaking heat wave. Still, we had a great trip. Here are some of the strategies we’ve used to keep our cool at the Disneyland Resort:
It’s very important that you get help as quickly as possible for any of the symptoms that accompany sinusitis, and the treatment you choose depends on your symptoms and the cause of the sinusitis. This drug was first discovered in the 1960s, as soon as it was discovered that many people who were taking some type of arthritis drugs. Nolvadex and naltrexone is prednisone 10 mg cost without insurance used to treat patients with alcohol and drug use. Prednisone was originally used as a treatment for rheumatic fever and the flu, but its efficacy is now seen as a general adjunct in the treatment of a variety of acute conditions of all ages and from all specialties.
1. Take A Break
We are all about the midday break. If you can possibly manage it, spend the hottest part of the day back at your hotel swimming, napping, or just having downtime in your air-conditioned room. When you come back refreshed, you’ll see plenty of hot, cranky people packing it in for the day. If an offsite break doesn’t work for you, a very leisurely beverage break in an air-conditioned restaurant will have similar benefits.
During the hottest day we spent at Disneyland we took a break for about 6 hours. While that’s a little extreme, it was an extreme day–117 degrees. We had fun from park opening until after lunch, then returned to the park after dinner and stayed late. We probably still had 7 to 8 hours of park time, and it was enjoyable time.
2. The Misting Fan
When we took the kids to Walt Disney World, everyone said you had to have a misting fan, so we got one for each kid. They were fine, but I wasn’t that impressed. Fast forward to a blistering day at Disneyland. A friend brought a misting fan which I hadn’t bothered to do. When she misted me, it was amazing—the best thing ever. Why was it so much better in Disneyland? Well, in Orlando, the humidity was well over 90%. When you misted yourself, the water just stayed there. In California, the humidity was around 50% that day. When you misted yourself, it evaporated, taking heat with it. When in Disneyland, get the misting fan.
3. You May Get Wet
You can get lightly splashed or even soaking wet on both Splash Mountain and Grizzly River Run. Sometimes you get wet on Pirates of the Caribbean too. The problem is, those rides will appeal to everyone else when the weather gets hot too. Get a Lightning Lane reservation for these rides if possible, and try for a time when you know you’ll enjoy getting wet like early afternoon right before you head back to the hotel for your break.
4. Find The A.C.
Summer days at Disneyland make me miss the Country Bear Jamboree and American Sings. They were both long rides with short waits, and they blasted the cold air. Pirates of the Caribbean, “it’s a small world,” and Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln fit the bill now. In California Adventure, The Animation Academy, the live show at the Hyperion, Soarin’, and Voyage of the Little Mermaid are good choices. You can also find air conditioning in restaurants and shops. The stores on Main Street in Disneyland and on Buena Vista Street in California Adventure are nicely interconnected so that you can shop a lot of different merchandise without having to go outside.
When things heat up, you may really appreciate a lunch stop with air conditioning. Many of the table service restaurants have air conditioning, but there are some counter service restaurants as well. In Disneyland Park you can try the Plaza Inn (no reservations needed for lunch or dinner) which has limited indoor seating and the Alien Pizza Planet in Tomorrowland. In California Adventure you can try to snag an indoor seat at Flo’s V8 Cafe or the Smokejumpers Grill. Eating outside the parks is an option as well. Panera Bread on Harbor Boulevard was blissfully cool.
5. Go West!
If you want to keep cool at Disneyland, you need to head west. Both parks are shadier and have more water on their west sides. Compare the glaring sun and concrete of Tomorrowland with the shady Rivers of America area in Frontierland, and you’ll see what I mean. Also, compare Radiator Springs with the Grizzly Peak area. Grizzly Peak and Frontierland both have great run-around areas for kids too. Frontierland in Disneyland has Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer’s Island, and Grizzly Peak in California Adventure has the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. Both have shade, water, and practically no lines.
6. If All Else Fails, Buy A Dole Whip
It can’t hurt.
Beyond Dole Whips, the Disneyland resort is full of cool treats and refreshing beverages. Many are shareable such as the Rainbow Unicorn from Bing Bong’s. A cold Mint Julep or a Mickey Bar can really improve my attitude on a hot day.
