Langus Riverfront Park is located along the Snohomish River. It’s also near the highway, Everett, and the water treatment plant. Surprisingly, Langus feels fairly separate and provides plenty of recreational opportunities.

Walking
When we go there, we’re usually there for a walk, though biking is permitted as well. From the main parking area, you can walk north along the Snohomish river towards Dagmar’s landing. No one else was walking this direction which was pleasant, but the highway was louder. Walking south, we passed more people, but many areas were protected from highway noise. Enthusiastic walkers can continue south until the trail turns back to follow Union Slough. Eventually, this takes you to the Spencer Island County Park. Spencer Island has trails and opportunities to spot wildlife.
Picnicking
I have a theory. I think there was a certain budget set aside for picnic tables for Langus Riverside Park. Whoever was in charge of purchasing got a good deal but used the full amount. I say this because there is a nearly ridiculous number of picnic tables available . There are some in a covered area. Then they are dotted all along the river in the main area of the park. If you want to picnic by the river, by golly, you can do that.
Boating
The park provides a boat launch area as well. There are two lanes, and the current price of $10 can be paid at the automatic pay station. The launch is for boats up to 20 feet long, and is usable at all but extreme minus tides. There is a separate rowing dock nearby a shell house.
Details, details.
Langus Riverfront Park has restrooms with warm water, but there were closed when we visited, probably due to Covid. The hours are 6:00 am. to dusk.
Spencer Island County Park is likely to have more wildlife, but it does not allow dogs.

I can’t believe we haven’t been here yet. Hubby and I are always looking for less crowded places to walk…especially during Covid-19. We are so close, we’ll have to give it a try. Is it completely paved so it doesn’t get muddy during the rain? Thanks! -Andrea
Oh, a Northwest Neighbor! Sweet! Walking south along the river was paved as far as we went. Walking north was gravel. I’m pretty sure Spencer Island isn’t paved and probably not worth trying during really wet times. The old perimeter trail washed away during a flood.
