We have now stayed four times at the Del Sol Inn on our trips to the Disneyland Resort. We chose the hotel because of its location, the included breakfast, and because it can accommodate a family of 5.

Location
The Del Sol is located next to the Anaheim Desert Inn and Suites very near the pedestrian crosswalk that takes you into the main Harbor entrance to the Disneyland resort. This is one of the closest places you can stay to the parks. Even the Disneyland Hotel has a longer walk to the main entrance. I recommend looking at the area on Google Maps before choosing a hotel. The Del Sol is actually behind the Denny’s parking area, and we never heard any street noise there.
The Room
We got the Kids Room with two queen beds and a bunk bed. The room will sleep up to 6 people.
First of all, the room was very clean and it looked recently refurbished. The only furniture that showed any wear was the bunk bed and the headboards of the other beds. The bunk bed had actual stairs going up rather than just a ladder, and the railing around the upper bunk was decent sized with no gaps. However, they don’t look like full-sized twin beds, and our 11 year olds will outgrow them soon. Erin was 64 inches the last time time and said it was fine for her now but not for too much longer. The room felt uncrowded (until our suitcases exploded all over the floor) and we didn’t feel like we were falling all over each other just to move around and get ready.
Additionally, the bathroom was very clean and exactly what you’d expect. The sink and vanity were in the main room and had a very bright light for getting ready. The mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker were right by it. There wasn’t any sitting area or table in the room, just a desk and chair under the t.v.
Storage
The storage space wasn’t exactly abundant. There was a shared nightstand with some space, and the bunk beds in some rooms have shallow drawers underneath the lower bunk. There was a good-sized closet with hanging space, an upper shelf, and one suitcase stand. The vanity unit was high enough that you could slide a suitcase or two underneath it to help get them out of the way. The adults took the hanging space and the high shelf, and we stuck our suitcases under the vanity. The kids mostly just dressed out of their suitcases which they put on the suitcase stand, the desk, and the floor.
Sleep Factors
Additionally, the hotel was fairly quiet. We were right by the pool, and we could hear some noise from it, but only during the day. We did hear people opening closet doors in other rooms. For some reason, that was pretty loud, but the air conditioning fan covered that up pretty well.
Some people might have had trouble with the amount of light in the room at night. There were some pretty wooden shutters on the window, but since there were overhead walkway lights just outside that were on all night, you couldn’t get it completely dark in the room. The second time we stayed there, our room was considerably darker. The light didn’t bother any of us, but if you are light-sensitive you’d want a sleep mask.
The Pool
The girls swam several times on two of the trips. The pool area was very clean, and there were chairs, tables, and loungers. Since the pool was in a courtyard, there was always shade when I was there. Additionally, there was a well-stocked supply of pool towels.
I thought the landscaping was more attractive than you might expect for a hotel of that type. The area was done in pavers instead of cement, and there were small, attractive palms in planting areas at either end. The pool was the standard kidney shape with a shallow end and a 7-foot deep end. The hot tub didn’t seem as hot as some people might like, but it was definitely warm when I dipped my hand in.
The Breakfast
We took advantage of the free breakfast served daily from 7:00-9:00. The area was clean but pretty cramped when several families wanted to get food at once. Due to limited seating, we took our food back to the room most of the mornings.Â
Here’s a list of what was available: white or wheat bread to toast, premade pancakes or waffles to toast, assorted cake doughnuts, syrup, jams, butter, instant oatmeal, hard-boiled eggs, wheat flakes, Fruit Loops, Corn Flakes, apples, oranges, or bananas, milk, juice, regular and decaf coffee, and the normal coffee accompaniments.
The Parking
Like most hotels in the area, you pay for the parking, and it is valet. It cost $16 a night. They even let us leave our car there for the day after we had checked out, but we paid for an extra day of parking.
Our Thoughts
The Del Sol Inn worked fine for us. In our few interactions with the staff they were courteous and professional. The room and common areas were clean. On longer stays, I might get frustrated with having no dresser for unpacking. People who are light-sensitive might be bothered by light at night. The price was reasonable, and I found the best deal booking directly through their website. We are likely to stay there again until our kids are too big for the bunks.
