Picking Your Hotel In Disneyland

Picking your hotel for your trip to the Disneyland resort is an important step that you want to accomplish as early as possible. There are a few key questions to ask yourself. Do you want to stay on property or off? What’s your budget? How will you get to the parks? Let’s break it down a little.

Like i said, i’ve wasted a lot of time before (and i’m sure that will continue) so while this is a review site i don’t expect perfection, i just expect to learn a lot. Mox 500 mg price in pakistan, to-and-fro what does it cost, and is there a generic for mox 500 mg. The drug, also known as diflucan or d-fenfluramine, works by attacking the bacteria.

I was prescribed citalopram, 30 mg, as well as fluoxetine 20 mg, to be taken once daily for 4 to 8 weeks, after which the dosage could be increased to a maximum of 60 mg. Amoxil hindi (hindi: gabapentin for dogs to buy || ) is a soft drink originally produced by the hindustan lever company in ahmedabad, india. The sales increase was driven by strong volume growth of prescription drugs, the statement said.

On Property

“On Property” refers to hotels owned by Disney. They look cool, cost a lot, and have nice amenities. Special perks are usually available to on-property guests such as early access to the parks, preferred access to some resort dining reservations, and having shopping bags delivered to your room.

Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa

This is the fanciest of the 3 resort hotels. It’s done in the Craftsman style, and it wraps around one side of Disney California Adventure. It’s even got its own entrance to that park, and is the closest hotel to Disneyland Park as well. Expect to pay around $800 a night for their basic room even if you’re just looking at the parking lot. If money is no object, they also have suites that go for thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars a night. For those prices, they better send Mickey to tuck you in.

The Disneyland Hotel

This is the classic original. I’ve spent plenty of time wandering around the grounds, enjoying the shopping, restaurants, and atmosphere. I even stayed there in 2022 and loved it. The only problems are that a) rooms start around $600 a night b) they don’t work all that well for a family of 5, and c) they’re not even that close to the parks. You have to wait for the Monorail or walk all the way through Downtown Disney to get to the gates. I actually found that walk super annoying because it’s longer than I’m used to and very overstimulating. Still, the pool with the monorail waterslides and the rooms with the light-up castle headboards are just too cool.

Paradise Pier Hotel

This used to be the Pan Pacific Hotel, but Disney bought it, renovated it, and re-themed it. At around $450 a night, this is the closest the Disneyland Resort comes to a moderate hotel option. They recently opened a special entrance to California Adventure that is about a 5 minute walk via a key-controlled gate. The hotel is being renovated with a Pixar theme, and rates will probably go up. It will still be a pretty long walk to Disneyland.

Off Property

For many of us, off property is the way to go. These are just regular hotels near the Disneyland Resort. The main reasons to stay off property are to save money, to be closer (yes, more on that later) to have bigger rooms, and get different amenities like a free breakfast. Many are chain hotels you’ll recognize like Marriott or Best Western. If you are members of a loyalty program you could even spend points to stay there or get extra perks.

Hotels on Harbor

  • Harbor Boulevard
  • Disney Trip

Harbor Boulevard runs along the east side of the Disneyland Resort. Some of these hotels are significantly closer to the gates of the theme parks than the Disneyland Hotel. They’re closer than any hotel except the Grand Californian. For this reason, we tend to focus our hotel search to this area.

So how do you know which ones are the closest? Easy answer: Google Maps. If you look at the Disneyland resort on Google maps you can find Harbor Boulevard on the east side of the resort. Everything between Interstate 5 on the north end to Katella Avenue on the south end is a pretty decent walking distance to the front gates. What’s closest? There’s a pedestrian crosswalk in the middle of that area. You cross there to a nice paved and protected walking path that runs right by the bus drop-off area and to security. To be as close as possible, you want to stay near that crosswalk. You can see it best if you turn on the satellite view, but the crosswalk is directly across from IHOP. The two closest hotels are The Best Western Park Place Inn and Mini-suites and Park Vue Inn. That certainly doesn’t mean those two hotels are your only options though. There are plenty of other hotels nearby. Here are a few we have stayed at:

Best Western Plus Park Place Inn and Mini-Suites

We haven’t stayed here recently enough to do a full review of this hotel, but we have stayed here multiple times. We loved how close it was, and in the pre-Covid days it had a superior free breakfast buffet when compared to other nearby hotels. It wasn’t as good for a family of 5 as our kids got older because someone had to sleep on a fold-out couch, so we haven’t been there lately. Prices start in the low $200 range.

Del Sol Inn

We’ve done a full pre-Covid review of this hotel. It’s a good budget option for families and can accommodate parties of up to 6 people in one room. Rooms start around $215 a night.

Desert Inn and Suites

We’ve stayed here as recently as late 2021 and have a full review here. Also good for larger groups, the rooms start around $190.

Candy Cane Inn

I stayed here pre-Covid, and it’s a very attractive hotel with really spectacular bougainvillea when it’s in bloom. It had a better-than-decent breakfast offering, and a nice little pool. It’s actually on the West side of Harbor, tucked up behind Carsland in DCA. It was about a 10 minute walk, similar to walking from the Disneyland hotel. You didn’t ever have to cross Harbor, and the sidewalk has a small set-back from the street that felt very safe other than being a little dark at night. The hotel also ran hourly busses to the resort if you didn’t feel like walking. Rooms start around $180.

HoJo

If the Anaheim Howard Johnson hotel gives you retro Disneyland vibes, that’s because it was designed by the same architect who designed the Disneyland hotel. It has more of a resort feel than most of the hotels in the area, and it has a pirate ship-themed water play area that makes me wish I were a kid again. The rooms are updated, and many have fun Disney or pirate theming. We are fans of the Mouse Savers website, and we used their discount code to save money when we stayed there. The only disadvantage to this hotel was that it was about a 10 minute walk. It didn’t really matter in the morning, but in the heat of the afternoon we were dragging as we trudged along the sidewalk. Rooms here start around $220 and go up from there with a lot of different options. There was no free breakfast here, though it’s right next to Mimi’s Cafe which has excellent breakfasts.

Other Hotels for your Disneyland Vacation

There are hotels all over Anaheim, but if you don’t stay in the area I described, how will you get to Disneyland? Well, some people are willing to walk farther than I am. The Anaheim Resort Transit is also a popular option that serves hotels that aren’t within comfortable walking distance. I’ve used it before, and it works just fine, but when I decide I’m ready for a rest, I want to be at my hotel immediately with no waiting around for my ride. Some folks also stay further away and just drive and pay to park in a Disney parking garage. Some crafty people opt to stay in a hotel near the Disney parking garage and use the garage’s trams that take you closer to the front gates.

Final Considerations

When you choose your hotel for your Disneyland trip, it’s important to always look at where it is on a map. Not just the proximity to the parks, but the proximity to that pedestrian entrance (or a Disney parking garage) is important as well. The hotel’s description may truthfully say that it’s across the street from the Disneyland Resort, but it could be a 15 minute walk or possibly more. You’re going to be doing plenty of walking in the parks. Beware too of descriptions like, “One block from Disneyland.” The blocks in that area are huge, and some parts aren’t good for pedestrians. Always check Google Maps. You can even search “How long does it take to walk from ___________ to Disneyland?” and get a fairly accurate answer. If you want to stay at a property that’s farther away, look into your transportation options ahead of time to avoid a rocky start to your vacation.
