If I’m not on a Disney trip, I’m dreaming of a Disney trip. Since my job and my bank account don’t really make back-to-back trips feasible, there’s a lot more time spent dreaming. However, I’m not just dreaming, I’m also getting ready — even if I don’t actually have a trip on the books yet.

If you’re planning a Disney trip–even just theoretically, here are some practical steps you can take:
1. Get mobile.
Many people walk 5, 10 or even more miles a day when they are on a Disney trip. I know I don’t get more than a couple miles a day in unless I make a point of going for a walk. Find fitness motivation by telling yourself that you are training for Disney. Maybe find some upbeat Disney tunes to inspire you as you walk.
2. Price it out.
You may not know exactly when you’ll take your trip, but you can still get an idea of the price. Get some prices for hotels, airfare, etc. even if you don’t reserve a room or buy tickets yet. If you plan to use a travel agent, get a few quotes. Then you can build a budget and start saving.
3. Take inventory.
Think about your packing list for Disney–comfortable shoes, rain ponchos for wet rides, etc.–and determine if you have everything you need. Once you know what’s needed, you can plan to gradually acquire the necessities instead of having to buy them all at once before the trip.
4. Get the family ready.
If you have kids who have grown and matured considerably since their last trip, you may have a completely different experience in store. Research the height restrictions to find out if your child is ready to try new rides. Watch a few ride videos together to see if they’re game. Taking a teen? 5. Get the app.
Make sure that you have the current app for your Disney park. Take some time to get to know the app so that you can find the maps, mobile ordering, and access the Lightning Lane Service if you chose to pay for it.

Which disney do you go to ?
We are on the west coast, so it’s usually the Disneyland Resort, though we have taken the kids to Walt Disney World. We may make it to Disneyland Paris in the next few years. How about you?
We have been to the California and we even went to the one in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is way smaller but no crowds. California was great absolutely loved it. Will definitely go to Orlando one day.
Sweet! I’d love to go to Hong Kong someday.
