We usually try to grab free breakfast from our hotel on park days, but on a recent ‘down day’ we slept in and missed breakfast. Several people had recommended Mimi’s Cafe to us, so we headed there for breakfast. We were glad we did.

There are other chain restaurants that serve breakfast on Harbor, and I’ve eaten at them many times. They’ve all been fine. What set Mimi’s apart right away was that it had less of the “plastic booth and sticky laminated menu” vibe. It was a little nicer inside, and there was also a full bar area though that didn’t really matter for breakfast. There was an outdoor seating area which would have been nice in cooler weather.
The Food
Mimi’s had a nice variety of breakfast food available, and the quality seemed a little nicer and a little fresher than other comparable breakfast locations without being more expensive. The berries on my waffles were fresh berries, not a berry compote that had could have been sitting around for a long time.
There were plenty of choices, and we had a variety of menu items, including chicken and waffles and the Eggs Benedict. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. The younger set had the pancakes from the children’s menu, and instead of being shaped like a dog like at other Mimi’s locations, they were shaped like Mickey which was fun.
Location
Mimi’s Cafe is located on Harbor Boulevard, right across from Disneyland and adjacent to the Howard Johnson Anaheim hotel. They do take reservations for breakfast which is nice if you’re trying to make rope drop, but we walked in mid-morning with no wait at all. They are open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
